COVID-19: Staying Safe at Brierholme

To keep ourselves and our guests safe we have had to make some changes in line with current government guidance. Don't worry though the friendly Brierholme service is still here just with additional effort to maximise safety.

Step 4

From 19th July 2021, the government have moved to step 4 of the plan to ease restrictions. Further information about this can be found here.  At Brierholme this now means we have eased some of our COVID related operational changes in an effort to make your stay more comfortable.  Although legal requirements have been removed by the government the advice on keeping everyone safe with regards to face coverings, social distancing and hygiene remain the same.  Please note we are currently still not accepting bookings from guests who reside outside of the United Kingdom.

Arrival & Check-in

In order to maximise guest safety, we are still trying our best to social distance during check-in. We ask any guests to ring the doorbell and wait outside the property until asked to enter by ourselves. We may talk to you via our intercom system on the bell so please listen out.  If other guests are present please remember to social distance outside.  We can’t count on the British weather so maybe bring a brolly too! If for a change the sun happens to be out we have space to sit outside and run through anything you need to know in the fresh air.

To limit the amount of face to face contact on arrival we have now implemented a contactless check-in process.  Please click here to ensure your contact details and any additional check-in information we require is up to date before you arrive (to login you will need your reservation number which can be found in your confirmation email). This will help to ensure the process is as smooth as possible. On the day of arrival, you will receive a "check-in" email to allow you to self-check-in once settled in your room.

Although we already have your contact and check-in/check-out times held for NHS Test & Trace in our booking system, the government are still advising all guests to check-in using the official "NHS QR Code Poster". At Brierholme the poster will still be available to scan on our front door and in the hall.  Although this is no longer a legal requirement we are advising guests to use the app where possible.  This must be done using the official "NHS COVID-19" app which you can download here.  Please download the app in advance to save time on arrival.  Don't worry though we will be on hand to help if you have any problems.  

Face Coverings

From 19th July 2021 the government regulations now no longer require guests to wear a face covering when in public areas of hotels. At Brierholme however, you will still be required to wear a face covering in any public area (excluding when dining in the breakfast room). This is to keep ourselves, our guests and our home a safe environment.  Please note that we are operating a "no exemptions" policy.  This means you must wear a face covering when in public areas at Brierholme otherwise you will be asked to leave.

Breakfast

We kindly ask all guests to wash their hands before coming down for breakfast and when they return to their room. Hand sanitiser and anti-bacterial wipes will also be available for use in the breakfast room.

Where possible we are seating guests as far apart as we can in our breakfast room. However, due to the recent relaxation of social distancing laws, we have now reverted to our normal breakfast time (8:15 AM to 9:00 PM) and are no longer asking guests to split between two sittings. On the advice of the government and due to the size of our breakfast room we have made the decision not to return to a full breakfast buffet just yet.  Instead, we are still offering a selection of delicious pre-ordered individual prepared buffet items delivered directly to your table.  Please pre-order any buffet items the evening before along with your main breakfast choice using the pad in the hall. 

For any guests who do not wish to join us in the main breakfast room, we are offering delicious hot sandwiches that can be delivered outside your room at any specified time (during our breakfast service). These include:

Bacon Butty - On white or wholemeal bread with your choice of sauce.
Cumberland Sausage Butty - On white or wholemeal bread with your choice of sauce.
Cumberland Sausage & Bacon Butty - On white or wholemeal bread with your choice of sauce.
Vegetarian/Vegan Sausage Butty option is also available.

If you would like to do this then please write your choice along with prefered time on the slip in the hall and post it under our kitchen door the night before.

Cleaning

We have increased our already strict cleaning regimes and are regularly cleaning public areas with anti-bacterial sprays. We are washing all fabric and crockery on hotter washes than normal. When cleaning rooms/communal areas we will be using anti-bacterial sprays on all surfaces, handles, switches and fabrics etc. and are strictly following the government/UK Hospitality advice on best cleaning practices.

To limit contact and cross-contamination for both our guests and our own safety we will not be servicing your rooms during your stay. You will find fresh bin bags and a top-up to your hospitality tray in the dresser drawer. Additional toilet rolls will also be provided in the bathroom. We kindly ask that you tie any full rubbish bags tightly and leave them outside your room for collection each morning. If you are staying with us for more than two nights please let us know if you need additional top-ups of any items. The same applies if you require any fresh linen or towels during your stay.  Cleaning/sanitising products can also be provided if needed.

Payment & Checkout

We are currently only taking card payment.  To still maintain a level of social distancing we are operating a contactless check-out process.  

To limit hand contact with guests we will be asking guests to settle their bill online.  Click here to either settle your bill in advance or at any point during your stay.  Once you log in (you will need your reservation number from your confirmation email) you can settle your bill using a payment card of your choice. You will receive a reminder about this on the day of departure too. Any outstanding balances after check-in finishes at 10:15 am on the day of departure will automatically be taken from the card used to make the booking.

When checking out we kindly ask that you leave your key in the key box on the hall side.

If You Feel Unwell

If you experience any symptoms that could be COVID-19 related while staying with us please let us know as soon as possible. As per government advice, you should also remain in your room until we have discussed a plan of action. This will help to keep everyone safe.

Afternoon Treats

Unfortunately, Jonathans famous afternoon treats are still off-limits for the moment. If you fancy something sweet "Brysons of Keswick" located on Main Street offer some deliciously naughty treats!

Out & About

Please remember that many of the shops and businesses are operating differently than normal. Please try your best to observe the guidance put in place by the town and local businesses whilst in Keswick. You will probably need to book all your restaurant and even pub tables in advance. Most businesses have updated their websites/Social Media with their new operating procedures. If you are unsure though please ask and we will find out for you.

The fells and lakes are all open and the air is clean and fresh! Make sure you check the current guidance from Mountain Rescue before attempting any walks. They are running on limited staff so have some great advice on how to enjoy the fells whilst still staying safe.
