COVID-19: Staying Safe at Brierholme

To keep ourselves and our guests safe we have had to make some changes in line with current government guidance. Don't worry though the friendly Brierholme service is still here just with additional effort to maximise safety.

Arrival & Check-in

Due to current social distancing regulations, we ask any guests to ring the doorbell and wait outside the property until asked to enter by ourselves. We may talk to you via our intercom system on the bell so please listen out.  If other guests are present please remember to social distance outside.  We can’t count on the British weather so maybe bring a brolly too! If for a change the sun happens to be out we have space to sit outside and run through anything you need to know in the fresh air.

To limit the amount of face to face contact on arrival we have now implemented a contactless check-in process.  Please click here to ensure your contact details and any additional check-in information we require is up to date before you arrive (to login you will need your reservation number which can be found in your confirmation email). This will help to ensure the process is as smooth as possible. On the day of arrival, you will receive a "check-in" email to allow you to self-check-in once settled in your room.

Although we already have your contact and check-in/check-out times held for NHS Test & Trace in our booking system, from 24th September government regulations now require all guests to also check-in using the official "NHS QR Code Poster". At Brierholme this will mean one person in your party will be required by law to scan the QR poster in the hall when arriving at Brierholme and provide details for NHS Test & Trace. This must be done using the official "NHS COVID-19" app which you can download here.  Please download the app in advance to save time on arrival.  Please also note we cannot allow entry to anyone who does not participate in NHS Test & Trace.  Don't worry though we will be on hand to help if you have any problems.  

Face Coverings

From 8th August government regulations now require all guests to wear a face covering when in public areas of hotels. At Brierholme this will mean you will be required by law to wear a face covering in any public area (excluding when dining in the breakfast room). If you are exempt from wearing a face covering please do let us know on arrival.

Breakfast

We kindly ask all guests to wash their hands before coming down for breakfast and when they return to their room. Hand sanitiser and anti-bacterial wipes will also be available for use in the breakfast room.
Where possible we are seating guests as far apart as we can in our breakfast room. To maximise social distancing we are currently running two breakfast sittings of 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. This will be on a first-come-first-served basis when pre-ordering the day before. Please arrive promptly (but not too early) so we have time to clean and sanitise before the next sitting. As we are not permitted to offer our normal buffet service we are asking guests to pre-order everything the night before (see our new menu when you arrive for items available and further details on how to order).

For any guests who do not wish to join us in the main breakfast room, we are offering delicious hot sandwiches that can be delivered outside your room at any specified time (during our breakfast service). These include:

Bacon Butty - On white or wholemeal bread with your choice of sauce.
Cumberland Sausage Butty - On white or wholemeal bread with your choice of sauce.
Cumberland Sausage & Bacon Butty - On white or wholemeal bread with your choice of sauce.
Vegetarian/Vegan Sausage Butty option is also available.

If you would like to do this then please write your choice along with prefered time on the slip in the hall and post it under our kitchen door the night before.

Cleaning

We have increased our already strict cleaning regimes and are regularly cleaning public areas with anti-bacterial sprays. We are washing all fabric and crockery on hotter washes than normal. When cleaning rooms/communal areas we will be using anti-bacterial sprays on all surfaces, handles, switches and fabrics etc. and are strictly following the government/UK Hospitality advice on best cleaning practices.

To limit contact and cross-contamination for both our guests and our own safety we will not be servicing your rooms during your stay. You will find fresh bin bags and a top-up to your hospitality tray in the dresser drawer. Additional toilet rolls will also be provided in the bathroom. We kindly ask that you tie any full rubbish bags tightly and leave them outside your room for collection each morning. If you are staying with us for more than two nights please let us know if you need additional top-ups of any items. The same applies if you require any fresh linen or towels during your stay.  Cleaning/sanitising products can also be provided if needed.

Payment & Checkout

We are currently only taking card payment.  To make social distancing compliance easier we are now operating a contactless check-out process.  

To limit hand contact with guests we will be asking guests to settle their bill online.  Click here to either settle your bill in advance or at any point during your stay.  Once you log in (you will need your reservation number from your confirmation email) you can settle your bill using a payment card of your choice. You will receive a reminder about this on the day of departure too. Any outstanding balances after check-in finishes at 10:15 am on the day of departure will automatically be taken from the card used to make the booking.

When checking out we kindly ask that you leave your key in the key box on the hall side.

If You Feel Unwell

If you experience any symptoms that could be COVID-19 related while staying with us please let us know as soon as possible. As per government advice, you should also remain in your room until we have discussed a plan of action. This will help to keep everyone safe.

Afternoon Treats

Unfortunately, Jonathans famous afternoon treats are off-limits for the moment due to the restrictions. If you fancy something sweet "Brysons of Keswick" located on Main Street offer some deliciously naughty treats!

Out & About

Please remember that many of the shops and businesses are operating differently than normal. Please try your best to observe the guidance put in place by the town and local businesses whilst in Keswick. You will probably need to book all your restaurant and even pub tables in advance. Most businesses have updated their websites/Social Media with their new operating procedures. If you are unsure though please ask and we will find out for you.

The fells and lakes are all open and the air is clean and fresh! Make sure you check the current guidance from Mountain Rescue before attempting any walks. They are running on limited staff so have some great advice on how to enjoy the fells whilst still staying safe.
